Welcome! As we step out in faith to adopt from Ghana, we started this blog as a way to share the story of our adoption journey with family and friends. Step by step on this journey we are learning to trust in and rely on God all the more.
If you would like to start reading about our journey from the beginning start with the January 1st post, "How it all Started".

Right Now

Today has been an emotionally blah day. Multiple times today I cried out to God. I so badly want to meet my children. I so badly want to move beyond waiting for a referral; we’ve been waiting for over a year.  Since we started this process, I have watched several families complete their adoptions, are now matched for another. I’m so thrilled for them, but to be honest I have a little bit of “that’s not fair”.

While I know in my head that He is in control and that His timing is perfect, today I don’t want to have to wait anymore.

Ken took Jacob & I out to lunch today. He had some great stuff happen at work & we went to celebrate at a local Chinese buffet. I shared with him my blah feeling and how I’ve been crying out to God today. After the meal I opened my fortune cookie and I had to laugh. God is so funny. Now, please know that I do not give much credence to fortune cookies, but I believe God used it to tell me what I needed to hear. While it was not the message I wanted, I had to say, “Ok God, I hear you loud and clear”. The message was, “Right now you need to be patient”.

  1. Love all the recent blog activity, but I'm sorry you're still waiting for your referral. I *so* understand where you're coming from. On one hand, it's wonderful to watch other families being made and on the other, you feel like a total heel for wishing it were you. The waiting stinks. I'm keeping you in my prayers

  2. Hugs to you... Waiting for your children, to find out who they are and then to have them come home is just the absolute pits. Hoping it hurries along for you already!!!

  3. I totally understand! We didn't have to wait for a referral, but we've been trying to adopt our kids for a year and a half now. I've seen SO many families bring their kids home, and they all started way after we did! Waiting stinks! Hope you get your referral soon!
